Half a block from the sea, with an east to west view, we find this uneven terrain, crossed by a small stream that winds around the land guiding the collection of rainwater that comes down from the fields and flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The perfect location for this house on pilotis.
An upper floor with 145 me covered surface, with three bedrooms, the main one en suite and 120 m2 of deck of which 80 m2 are covered. The relationship between the covered meters and the deck meters reveal the proportionality of the use of the spaces.
The ground floor replicates the covered meters and has two non-closed covered garages that allow the house to “fly” over the stream. To this is added a complete suite for guests, service area, laundry room and clothesline.
On a chained underground concrete, the piles emerge and are chained again to support the slats where the house built in wood and a metal roof rests. The hot water provided by a solar system located at the roof takes advantage of the east-west orientation.
The house was intended as a beach house. The choice of materials as well. Summer houses can be closed for a long time. Arriving, opening them and finding everything dry, without any trace of moisture is only possible by choosing non-waterproof materials. Concrete slab only in the bathrooms and material walls in the bathrooms, one of them being a mediator with the wall of the internal fireplace, which gives it enormous efficiency in winter.
The interior did not allocate space to the dining room. The dining table is only outside, on the covered deck. Inside, only a double-height U-shaped bar where marble was combined for the counter and cane for the base. On the outdoor deck there is a long table built in lapacho, with benches with backs designed to extend the table and of course, a barbecue with a view of the magical Uruguayan sunsets and protected from the sea wind.
[:es]A 600 metros del mar, con vista al este y al oeste, nos encontramos con este terreno con mucho desnivel, atravesado por un pequeño arroyo que va serpenteando todo el terreno guiando la recolección de agua de lluvia que viene bajando de los campos y desembocan al océano atlántico. El lugar perfecto para esta casa sobre pilotes.
Una planta alta con 145 m2 cubiertos, con tres dormitorios, el principal en suite y 120 m2 de deck de los cuales 80 m2 son techados. La relación entre los metros cubiertos y metros de deck delatan la proporcionalidad del uso de los espacios.
La planta baja replica los metros cubiertos y alberga dos cocheras cubiertas no cerradas que permiten que la casa “vuele”. A esto se le suma una suite completa para invitados, área de servicios, lavadero y tendedero.
Sobre un encadenado de hormigón soterrado, surgen los pilotes que se vuelven a encadenar para sostener los listones donde se apoya la casa construida en madera y techo de chapa. El agua caliente provista por un sistema solar ubicado al ras del techo aprovecha la orientación este-oeste.
La casa fue pensada como casa de playa. La elección de los materiales también. Las casas de verano pueden pasar mucho tiempo cerradas. Llegar, abrirlas y encontrar todo seco, sin ningún rastro de humedad es sólo posible eligiendo materiales no hidrófugos. Losa de hormigón sólo en los baños y paredes de material en baños siendo uno de ellos medianero con el muro del hogar a leña interno lo que le da enorme eficiencia en invierno.
El interior no destinó espacio al comedor. La mesa de comedor está solo en el exterior, sobre el deck techado. En el interior tan solo una barra en U con doble altura donde se combinó mármol para la mesada y caña para la base. En el deck exterior una larga mesa construida en lapacho, con bancos con respaldo diseñados para extender la sobremesa y por supuesto, un parrillero con vista a los mágicos atardeceres uruguayos y protegido del viento del mar.
