Located on the exclusive La Barra coast in Uruguay, the two-story building is located perpendicular to the Maldonado creek. Its main facade establishes an inseparable bond between the building and the exterior by opening up to the surrounding natural environment. Equipped with a perimetral deck, a pool and a solarium, the space offers the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the sun.
The lobby and bar are located in the west wing of the ground floor, and they both connect to the deck, making this the building's common area. The hotel has eighteen rooms distributed between the ground floor and the first floor, all of which can be accessed from a corridor located at the back of the building. This allows each of the rooms to have a private balcony overlooking the water by leaving the main facade clear. The building has a modern and stripped-down architecture. Prioritizing the building’s integration to its exterior, the El Escondido hotel strategically and respectfully merges into the landscape combining materials like concrete, glass and wood.
[:es]Ubicado en la exclusiva costanera de La Barra en Uruguay, el edificio se implanta perpendicularmente al arroyo Maldonado en dos niveles. Abriéndose hacia el entorno natural, la fachada principal entabla un vínculo inseparable entre el edificio y el exterior. Equipado con un deck perimetral, piscina y solárium, el proyecto propone un ambiente propicio para descansar y disfrutar bajo el sol.
En el extremo oeste de la planta baja se encuentra la recepción y el bar, que estando vinculado al deck se convierte en el núcleo social del complejo. Las dieciocho habitaciones se distribuyen entre planta baja y el primer piso, a las cuales se accede a través de la circulación ubicada en la parte trasera del edificio, liberando la fachada principal para que cada una de las dieciocho habitaciones tenga una terraza privada mirando al arroyo Maldonado. La arquitectura del edificio es moderna y despojada. Priorizando la relación con el exterior, el hotel El Escondido se incorpora al paisaje de forma estratégica y respetuosa, combinando materiales como el hormigón, vidrio y madera.
