Constructed Area:
340 m2
This project consists of a single-family warehouse-type house, designed for an elderly couple who wish to enjoy everyday comfort while frequently hosting their grandchildren and family. The concept stems from a simple but strong idea: an efficient architecture, quick to build, flexible over time, and honest in its material expression.
The choice of the warehouse as an architectural typology responds to clear functional criteria. Its simple, elongated volume allows for a fast and efficient dry construction, optimizing resources from the structure to the installations, and reducing technical complexities.
The interior space is entirely clad in wood, creating a warm and natural atmosphere, in strong contrast with the industrial logic of the exterior. The main wooden structure, with exposed beams, becomes the focal point of the space, evoking a minimalist language inspired by Japanese design, where formal sobriety, material honesty, and structural rhythm define the project’s identity. The beams not only serve their load-bearing function but also organize the space and contribute to a serene and restrained architectural experience.
The project is organized around a clear scheme: a large central living-dining area, open to a gallery that directly connects with the pool and garden, functions as the core of daily life and a family gathering place. On one side of the volume is the master bedroom, conceived as a spacious and comfortable suite, with two full bathrooms and two separate walk-in closets, allowing simultaneous and private use by the couple. On the other side of the volume are two additional bedrooms, designed to accommodate the grandchildren during their visits.
The result is a generously scaled but controlled home, with a sober language and sincere materiality, aiming to offer spatial quality, efficiency, and comfort in harmony with its surroundings. A house designed not only to be inhabited but also to be lived in and shared.
