Iemanja
2015
José Ignacio, Uruguay
Constructed Area:
590 m2
This house, on a lonely oceanic beach near the town of José Ignacio, was bought by a client of the studio with whom we have worked together on several projects. This important reform was thought of as a house for a single man who loves to receive friends in the summer months.
The house has three levels to be able to take the maximum height and obtain the best views of the sea and the town. On the upper level is the public area of the house which is accessed by a large wooden ramp from the garden. A large living room and a grill open onto a terrace with a pool, a space that we expanded substantially, organizing it with lapacho wood pergolas that provide great warmth to the environment. On the ground floor, the daytime life is divided into another area on the sand with a second pool and a relaxed design surrounded by plants typical of the east coast.
The house serves as a friend's hotel and the rooms, all of very good size, are located on the two lower floors, also with wide views of the sea and comfortable armchairs to lie down to enjoy long days of leisure are perfect.
The modern, contemporary architecture simply links the large house with the rugged landscape of dunes and rough seas of this beach open to the Atlantic Ocean. The colors of the sand, the whites and the lapacho wood in its natural state are a perfect combination for this atypical beach house.
